Addressing Domestic Problem

    Indonesia is well-known with the abundance of natural advantages from their geographical structure, minerals, plentiful cultural artifacts or even their society. For some who might not be familiar with Indonesia, may have ever heard about Bali. Even though with tons of opportunities surrounding Indonesia, why Indonesia still in the box of developing country rather than standing on advance economy position. Majority of Indonesian could possibly not aware of the threats domestically nor externally. Many reasons could be found to answer the question, but several issues such as the regulation, educational structure, the rise of tax, social environment, and their perspective towards overseas countries or conflict will be the main factors which contributed as obstacles to step forward. It is difficult to move ahead if administration, general organization, or even as an individual are not willing to become discipline.

     Discipline as fundamental baseline for somebody to achieve consistency and avoid irresponsibility in general has been eroded due to easy-going attitude among Indonesian people. Although Indonesian mostly known as friendly in tourists’ perspective therefore they have been so called society with polite culture, yet placing the politeness itself may not be correctly located. Take public transportation for instance, people are losing their appreciation towards it because of the uncertainty for length of time they have to spend until they reach their destinations. Reliability and most importantly Discipline are playing crucial part to address traffic jam causes by huge number of individual vehicles. While other reasons such as underpayment for public accommodation drivers, community vehicle’s temperature, communal accommodation scarcity whereby make it crowded or other nuances could be donated traffic jam, but the root of cause is people are bothered by the loose of discipline on public transportation. Let alone other examples like constitution personnel who were sleeping during appointment, organization meeting delayed 30 minutes, honesty within education sectors and so on if Indonesians cannot show a grain of indication within their heart to become a discipline nation.

    Educational structure has numerous issues coming from within institution and external threats which yet been addressed. Inside of school, teachers are exhausted for being paid under the bar minimum. Despite low salary teachers often got, essential problem such as bullies has become burden for them. Two main factors why harassment in school seem complicated to address, is either teachers were afraid of being reported to authority by parents or the educator simply did not recognize the violence due to lack of interaction with their students. In spite of teachers’ dilemma, students are also seemed struggling to perform sincereness. Exam would be a great example, many of learners were complaining the difficulty on subject to justify cheating. In addition, pressure from their relatives and jealousy have been crumbled honesty within education sectors. It is important to address cheating since students are also the same one who have dream to operate and become government. If our administration was being built based on people who cannot put honesty as their fundamental belief, it will trigger domino effect for future generation where people in charge are neglecting our education scheme. Moreover, given the number of schools which still use old-fashion facilities cause by our government for once again failing to equalizing rights for Indonesians to have proper education, why do even bother to raise taxes.

    The increase of taxes has become detrimental hit for regular civilians in middle or lower class. The outcome of overtax is unaffordability every type of needs such as the raise of gas oil made every sector of business tag more price than usual. People are also going to have difficulty to sustain their small businesses while their taxes did not change their life to become more easier whatsoever. Rather than taxing people equally from every layer of economic level, government could start charge more in expensive items, population control or sweetened foods, or specifically demand more towards rich people. Although some of folks might think taxing high-income group is ineffective, but it will elevate middle and lower class to buy more products from rich people’s businesses. Therefore, the flow of economic circulation will be controllable and Indonesia could have lower number of inflations. Another suggestion like the increase of salary for 9 to 5 workers is more likely walking by the time goes on. They cannot impose immediate upsurge of their income because titleholder have to as well increase upper badge people inside their business such as specialist, CEO, supervisor, and whatnot which made company barely breath. Establishment have to ensure every part of employees to be paid fairly compatible with their knowledge anyhow of their relationship with the owner of business.

    Nepotism is a common word to describe convenience reward or way due to pity and empathy toward either a person with similar background or closest relation. It is not a massive problem if owner of business wants to trust fund their company to their relatives. However, it will become severe issue when several establishments were not prioritizing employees based on its competency but rather how identical their experience in compare to others. Use foreign and domestic institution employees to be clearer, corporation will more likely hire an individual with domestic degree due to being “nationalism”. The consequence for repeatedly practicing favoritism is being enacted in people’s mind regarding it does not matter how relevant they are to the subject, but as long as they have money and relatives within community, they will completely pass on every type of job application.

    Not far from nepotism, bribery has also been interfering the balance for every civilian to get selected in legitimate test. Many of Indonesian students are going through hell in order to achieve their dreams in several sectors such as one of the fanciest jobs in Indonesia, police officer. People are fighting each other shoulder-with-shoulder, sometimes they could possibly be eliminated due to unreasonable factors since somebody’s child has taken their seat by giving money to examiners. Consequently, civilians are not had the same opportunities as if others with abundance money. Furthermore, those people who bribed in the beginning might do corruption since they had to cover the lost from previous. The implications of bribing are the spike of distrust among Indonesians, it is inspiring current generation to do such a thing, everlasting corruption, and the malfunction of sophisticated thinking.

    It is evitable for youth generation in Indonesia to become more sophisticated in practicing critical nor modern thinking. Some of eminent figures in Indonesia are subconsciously enacting teens and young adult with false perception of advance mindset. Using traditional languages such as Javanese, Sundanese, and so on are being associated through old-fashioned stereotype. Despite countryside languages and its authenticities’ image are being reshaped, correct majority view for foreign issue was being rejected. Deny popular opinion as if supporting Palestine seems not compatible with their “modern” mindset. Furthermore, it could be happened since they were assuming common ideas are cliche. Therefore, there lies misunderstood to perceive the meaning of sophisticated mindset. It is not about moving without bringing any luggage, but rather it is adapting brand-new ideas yet still preserving relevant concepts.

    As far as I am concerned, many of resources could have maximally used in order to achieve advance economy level in Indonesia. Hundreds or even thousand sectors are not potentially maximized due to inability of the government to prevent corruption and prioritize civilians’ needs at the present. Overseas eminent investor including Nvidia and Apple will not spend dime of their pennies in Indonesia if the people who are governing the society or the civilians itself are not reliableto begin with. As long as corruption still relevant nor connect with the word government, Indonesia can barely move their feet forward in international competition. Convicted person with corruption charge was even being pity rather than being dismantle and their money was not being stripped away. It is ridiculous since LGBT cases are being harshly judged more than corruption in Indonesia. Although Indonesian authorities did not want corruption as their legacy, the reality is, corruption has become evitable heritage in their own government.

    Indonesia as developing country needs to work on several problems if they want to achieve advance economy position. It is including not being discipline and reliable by placing their easy-going attitude in wrong places, they are not able to performing sincereness in education sectors, false perception of advance mindset. Nonetheless, the previous problems have become worst due to overtax, nepotism, and bribery. People who were bribed might do corruption. Furthermore, corruption itself is core issue which has been interfering Indonesia to step forward. Overseas eminent investors will not spend their money if Indonesian government and its people are not reliable to begin with. Indonesians did not want corruption as their legacy.
